Our Anedot integration makes it easy for you to fundraise using P2P with text-to-donate.
Text-to-donate means that all a recipient needs to do is reply back with the keyword you choose, along with the dollar amount they wish to give. If they are a registered Anedot donor, their donation will be automatically processed and you will see the amount added to your Anedot campaign. It's that easy!
If the recipient is not yet a registered Anedot donor, you can send them a link to donate in the response you send them after they reply. An automatic tag will be applied to anyone who responds back "YES" so you can easily pull a list of everyone once you have gone through your entire list.
Here's how to set it up:
Step 1: Enable Text-to-Donate on your Anedot Account
Log into your Anedot account, go to 'Settings' > 'Advanced' > Turn on Text-to-Donate
Step 2: Create or Reuse and Anedot campaign & Copy the Form URL
You can either make a new campaign or use an old one you've already setup. Either way, once you have a campaign made, copy the Form URL (as shown below)
Step 3: Setup your Message in RumbleUp & Enable Flag
Create a message just like normal. Then when you go to select the optional flags you want, enable the one that reads "Process Donations through Anedot" (shown below)
Once you enable that flag, you will see three fields appear at the top of your message creation screen. In the field that says; 'Anedot Campaign ID' paste your campaign ID that you copied from your Anedot account.
Next, you can choose to change the default keyword. The default keyword is what your recipients will need to reply back with to trigger the donation. The default keyword is "YES" and unless you change it, all "YES" responses will be automatically tagged as donations. This makes it easy for you to pull a list of everyone who replied back to donate without your agents needing to manually add tags as people reply. It is our recommendation to leave the default as it is, but you are free to make it whatever you wish. You don't need to type anything in to leave it as the default.
Then, you can choose if you want to ask for a specific amount as your donation. Please be aware that if you enter in an amount here, then if a person just replies back "YES" (or whatever you make your keyword to be) then a donation of the amount you specify here will automatically be processed. If you are just asking for open ended donations, we recommend leaving this field blank and allowing your recipients to text back the numerical amount they wish to donate.
Step 4: Write in your Pre-Scripted Replies
When people reply to your message with the keyword and the numerical amount they wish to donate, you will need to reply to them. You should have at least one pre-scripted reply that includes a link to your donation page and a message that says something along the lines of:
"Thank you so much for donating! If you don't receive an email receipt, please click this link to complete your donation: [insert link to donation page]"
If someone who is NOT a registered Anedot donor replies back "YES" and the numerical amount they wish to donate, their gift will NOT be processed and they will need to click on the link to finish their donation. For this reason, we highly recommend either dividing your list up between registered Anedot donors and non-registered donors, or including that information in the response you send people.
Step 5: Test & Send!
Once you have everything set up, you're ready to test it out and send!
Make sure you test it out by making a donation to the campaign and then checking your Anedot campaign to see if the donation has processed. Please keep in mind that there may be a bit of a lag time and it could take several minutes to show up.
- Always have people reply back "Yes" and the numerical amount they wish to donate, instead of just having them reply back "Yes"
- Always send a response to people who reply back "Yes" letting them know that they should receive a receipt via email and letting them know to click the link to your donation page if they do not receive that email.
